Our German Shorthaired Pointers are excellent hunting companions whether hunted alone, together, or with other dogs.  Truly terrific athletes that repeatedly show their ability to adapt and effectively hunt different game under various conditions.  (Grouse and woodcock in the Northern hardwood forests, pheasant and quail in Midwest CRP, ducks and geese in the marsh and rice fields of the Mississippi Flyway, and quail at home in the Tennessee farmlands).  All have excellent manners in the house and field and are a pleasure to hunt over.  

    I have carefully selected our dogs for natural hunting ability, temperament, cooperation, and desire.  Through a great training we have developed some awesome hunting partners.  We hope to perpetuate these traits in a line of exceptional hunting dogs (“brag dogs”) that you would look forward to having by your side in the field and lying by your feet at home or at the hunting cabin.

     Our dogs were carefully chosen based on parents and grandparents that exhibited the characteristics that we desired for our breeding program.  These dogs were well socialized and a great deal of time was spent with each at home and in the field.  They were introduced to birds, water, and the gun early and without pressure – allowing them to develop quickly and confidently, but at their own pace. 

     All of our dogs are naturally versatile.  Even though each has their own personality and area of specialty, they perform well under any condition and always work their hardest to reach the common goal of producing birds for the table.  Smoky Hollow dogs were chosen for their attitude, biddability, and desire to hunt – qualities that are exhibited everyday in the field and the water which makes them treasured by their owners and appreciated by non-hunters and hunters alike.
